Enriched Air Speciality

By diving with enriched air rather than standard air you can extend your no decompression limits. This means more time underwater. For example, if you dive to 15 metres/50 feet on air, your no decompression limit is 80 minutes. But, diving on EANx36 (36% oxygen) gets you 220 minutes of no decompression time - an increase of 140 minutes!

The PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty certification emphasizes the theoretical and operational considerations involved with enriched air diving, how to get an enriched air fill and how to correctly analyse it.

The course consists of a theory session at DiverCity at which time you are certified as an enriched diver, but if you wish the course to go towards your advanced certification or master scuba diver then you must also complete 2 open water dives. These dives can be combined with other specialist dives allowing the diver to complete 2 specialities at a time, ask your instructor for options.

Course Pre-requisites

Must be a PADI Open Water Diver
Minimum Age of 15

You need to be in reasonable health and be able to answer 'no' to all the medical questions listed in the 'Course Booking Form' downloadable to the right. If you answer 'yes' to any question then the 'GPs Statement' (downloadable to the right) will have to be signed by your doctor prior to the course's commencement.

What's Next?

Once you've become an Enriched Air Diver you may wish to take part in the Advanced Open Water course to show you other forms of diving and to give you extra depth to take photos. If a certain form of diving, such as Underwater Navigation or Night diving, is of interest then maybe focus in on one of our other Speciality Courses, but if you've been seriously bitten by the bug then maybe you would like to join our Master Scuba Diver Programme, the black belt of SCUBA. Course Costs and Dates

The cost of the Enriched Air speciality is £100 and is held over one theory session. If you wish to complete the optional two open water dives they can be completed on one day of the open water weekends below or spread over two days if preferred at a cost of £50.
